How to permanently delete your TumiaX account and what happens to your data
1Steps to Delete Your Account
Via Mobile App (Android/iOS)
- Open the TumiaX app on your device
- Tap on the Profile icon at the bottom right
- Tap on Settings (gear icon) in the bottom right corner
- Scroll down and tap on Delete Account
- Read the confirmation message carefully
- Confirm by tapping Delete My Account
Important Requirements
Before you can delete your account, you must:
- Repay all outstanding credit balances
- Settle any pending fees or charges
- Remove all assets from the platform
- Complete any active transactions
Data Deletion & Retention Policy
What Gets Deleted Immediately
- Personal profile information (name, email, phone number)
- Device tokens and session data
- Notification preferences
- Saved payment methods
- Asset documents and images
- Uploaded KYC documents (selfies, ID photos)
- Chat history and support tickets
Data Retained for 30 Days (Soft Delete)
During this period, your account can be restored. After 30 days, data is permanently deleted.
- Basic account metadata (for restoration purposes)
- Transaction history (read-only for audit)
- Credit account records (for potential recovery)
- Asset information (if any outstanding obligations)
Data Retained for Legal/Compliance (5-7 Years)
As required by financial regulations, the following data is retained for audit purposes:
- KYC verification records (anonymized)
- Credit transaction history (amounts, dates, statuses)
- Repayment records and payment history
- Audit logs for regulatory compliance
- Fraud investigation records (if applicable)
- Tax-related financial information
This data is stored securely and cannot be accessed for regular operations.
What Cannot Be Deleted
- Records of transactions required by law
- Fraud or compliance investigation data
- Data related to unresolved disputes
- Information required for tax purposes
Alternative: Remove Assets & Personal Data
If you want to keep your account but remove specific information, you can:
Remove Assets
Go to Assets → Select asset → Tap "Delete" (only available if no outstanding credit)
Delete Documents
Go to Assets → Select asset → Documents → Tap delete on individual documents
Log Out All Devices
Go to Settings → Security → "Log out"

Can I recover my account after deletion?
Yes, within 30 days of initiating deletion. After 30 days, all recoverable data is permanently deleted.
What happens to my credit balance?
You must repay all outstanding credit before account deletion. Any remaining credit cannot be withdrawn after deletion.

What if I have an active loan?
Account deletion is not possible until all outstanding obligations are settled. You must repay first.
